Prof. Mushtaq Ahmad Siddiqui, Ex VC IUST delivered guest lecture at GMC Srinagar

Prof. Mushtaq Ahmad Siddiqui, former vice chancellor, Islamic University of Science & Technology, Awantipora today delivered a guest lecture on “Governance & regulation in education with special reference to Medical Education” at Government Medical College Srinagar as part of guest lecture series organised by Department of Community Medicine, GMC Srinagar.

Prof. Siddiqui while sharing his enormous scientific and administrative experience within the country and abroad, emphasised on good governance particularly in medical education.

He observed that due to changing academic scenario with even increasing technologies like ChatGPT and GPT-4, we have been overwhelmed and thus shall make education a fun learning experience for students and using interactive learning acceptable to the teachers and the students. He reiterated that students shall also be made stakeholders in education policy making and implementation.

Furthermore, he emphasized the need of the hour for the teachers to upgrade and adapt to newer technology.

While making merit the important criteria for selection of administrators, the interface and interaction between the administration and subordinates shall also be given due credit in the selection process.

Prof. Masood Tanvir, Principal and Dean, Government Medical College Srinagar who presided over the program presented the memento to Prof. Mushtaq Ahmad Siddiqui. An extensive question and answer session followed during which the participants put various queries which were addressed by the guest speaker.
