he Postgraduate Department of Gynaecology and Obstetrics, Government Medical College Srinagar, held one day CME cum workshop  on the topic ““POST-PARTUM HEMORRHAGE (PREVENTING THE PREVENTABLE”  on 24.05.2024 in Auditorium Hall of Govt. Lalla Ded Hospital Srinagar in collaboration with “SAFE MOTHERHOOD COMMITTEE FOGSI”. The conference was inaugurated by Principal GMC Prof. (Dr) Iffat Hassan Shah while Dr. Poonam Goyal and Dr. Deepa Gupta were the guest faculty. The conference aimed to raise awareness, share cutting-edge research, and discuss innovative strategies to combat PPH
Prof. (Dr) Rizwana Habib, Head of Department OBG GMC Srinagar, welcomed all the dignitaries, faculty members and other administrative officials in workshop. In her welcome address she said that Post-Partum Hemorrhage (PPH) is one of the leading causes of Maternal Mortality, not only in developing countries but developed countries as well. However it is preventable. Managing PPH needs team work with all members of team be it doctors, nurses, paramedics, anesthesiologists, etc all knowing their part. As such CME’s, workshops   and up to date PPH Drills are useful and necessary tools in training the staff. 
Principal GMC, Dr Iffat Hassan in her welcome address congratulated the organizers for shedding light on such an important topic which will help in managing PPH and reducing natural mortalities and assured the members of providing all the necessary administrative backup.
Dr. Poonam Goyal, while addressing the participants, reiterated the importance of such a workshop and was all praise for the department for organizing such an event in short duration. Prof. (Dr) Syed Masuma Rizvi and Dr Muzaffar Jan (MS LD Hospital) also stressed upon the importance of such events. Dr. Shylla Mir, Dr. Shazia Ashraf , Dr Samina Ashraf, Dr Poonam and Dr Deepa Gupta deliberated on the various issues related to PPH. 
Prof (Dr) Ambreen Qureshi, in her vote of thanks, emphasized the importance of training all members of medical staff for timely detection and treatment of PPH as that could be lifesaving for the patients. She also applauded all the members of the department and administration of LD Hospital including all paramedic and supporting staff for their contribution in making the conference a great success. 
Among the trainees were faculty members, Senior Residents, Junior Residents, Nurses and their paramedic staff. The conference proved to be a boon to participants and was a resounding success, bringing together experts and stakeholders dedicated to advancing maternal healthcare and reducing the burden of PPH. Through continued research, education, and collaboration, the Medical community is poised to make significant strides in preventing and managing this critical obstetric complication.
