IMHANS Kashmir Observes World Mental Health Day with Focus on Healthcare Workers' Well-being

The Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (IMHANS) Kashmir marked World Mental Health Day with a comprehensive event emphasizing stress management, burnout, and mental health in professional settings. The theme centered on promoting mental well-being among healthcare workers and fostering supportive work environments.

The event commenced with an inaugural session led by Prof. Dr. Mohd Maqbool Dar, Head of Department at IMHANS. Dr. Dar warmly welcomed participants and highlighted IMHANS' pivotal role in promoting and protecting mental health through a range of interventions.

The Principal /Dean Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar, Prof. Dr. Iffat Hassan graced the occasion .She emphasized the critical role medical professionals play in providing care to a wide range of patients, often under challenging conditions. She stressed the importance of prioritizing mental health in professional settings.

Dr. Yuman Kawoosa, Assistant Professor at IMHANS, shed light on the growing issue of burnout among medical professionals and its impact on both patient care and provider well-being.

Dr. Rayees Ahmad Wani, Associate Professor at IMHANS, shared strategies and techniques for managing stress in high-pressure medical environments, focusing on resilience-building and support systems.

Dr. Tajamul, Head ,Deptt of Psychiatry at GMC Baramulla, moderated a panel session exploring the importance of creating mentally healthy workplaces and the policies needed to ensure employee well-being.

Syed Mujtaba Lawyer conducted a session titled "What We Need to Know," providing valuable insights into the legal frameworks and best practices for ensuring safe and respectful work environments.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Dr. Junaid Nabi, Associate Professor at IMHANS. Dr. Nabi expressed gratitude to all participants and contributors for making the day a success.
